NYC Facade Inspection Safety Program (FISP)
What is NYC FISP?
The NYC Façade Inspection Safety Program (FISP), formally known as Local Law 11/98, requires owners of properties greater than six stories in height to have exterior walls and appurtenances inspected every five years. Any basement or cellar that is half above grade level is considered a floor. A technical façade report must be filed with the NYC Department of Buildings (DOB). The inspection must be conducted by a registered architect or professional engineer, referred to as the Qualified Exterior Wall Inspector (QEWI).
